I am looking for some advise about clay. I am planning to hand sculpt a ball jointed doll and I am wondering if anyone has advice regarding clay. I don't want a resin cast final product, I am looking to create a bespoke clay piece. I have some living doll clay but I have heard it can be quite fragile, so I was wondering if it would benefit from a mix with a stronger polymer clay. I don't want joints breaking! I would like to avoid metal tubing within the doll, although if anyone has done it and it works I would love to hear about it. I have done some test sculpts with basic modelling clay just to get in my head the kind of dimensions I need, but I am now really stuck on which materials to start working with! I have used polymer clays in the past to make beads and buttons, but have never tried getting it to stick to metal tubes or wooden balls! I was also wondering if there is any strength difference between a baked polymer clay or one which has been boiled.
and one last question...has anyone re-baked polymer clay several times to know what it's re-baking limit is?
If anyone could help I would much appreciate it!
